My youngest has been exposed to letters and sounds

My youngest has been exposed to letters and sounds year after year, but these Phonics Faces have made ALL THE DIFFERENCE! In a month he has learned all of his letters and sounds and is even putting them together to make words! Their motto is that letters don’t make sounds… people do. It just makes sense. I introduced the A-Z phonics faces with the earliest Explode the Code workbooks to give him practice along the way and I review all the ones we have learned before introducing another. I bought these at Elementory.com and didn’t even know at the time that one of my college professors wrote this. 🤯
It’s genius for #dylexics and children who have a hard time pronouncing the sounds. I am so happy that I found out about these from a friend at my co-op.

I had this idea for introducing geography each wee

I had this idea for introducing geography each week and it has been a really easy way to make sure the kids can find everything the first time I ask them to show me that location on their maps.
All you need is to trace the map landmarks in different wet erase colors (so they don’t rub off easily) onto a laminated sheet. Memorize the CC Happy Mom song for that week ahead of time and use the song to introduce the landmarks with the laminated sheet on top of the trivium table maps. Then, pass out the maps and a dry erase marker and erasers and sing the song in order while they find each location. They can then erase and you can ask them to show you the landmarks out of order, still referencing their maps. Then, you can take the laminated sheet away and have them show you the landmarks in order & then out of order again.

A quick tip for teaching teaspoons and tablespoons…

Hold up three fingers like you are holding a tea cup while drinking and saying “three teaspoons equals 1 tablespoon.”

Use thumb and pointer (two fingers) to hold a one ounce medicine cup and then put it on the table before you drink it while saying “2 tablespoons equals 1 fluid ounce.”
